Seven Gothic Tales by Isak Dinesen

I picked this book up by mistake at my library, thinking that it was a collection of 18th century Gothic stories, and it was the most fortunate mistake I've made in a long time. I've almost forgotten the feeling when you read the first page of a book and want to never put it down, and at the same time don't want it to ever end. I can't express the sheer enjoyment and excitement I got from this book. I have no idea why I have never heard of this book before because it's exactly what I'm always looking for. It's a delicious concentration of every Gothic theme, with absolutely ravishing style and atmosphere. It's so wonderfully creepy and convoluted and twisted and gorgeous, I can't express how much I adored this book. I feel like in my eagerness to read it, I consumed it a bit too fast, I'll have to go back and reread it some time soon. Actually I just wish that my life were a continual rereading of this book.
