Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll

As a child, I used to be really scared by the Alice books, but now I find their absurdity both delightful and delightfully logical (if that makes sense). I love Lewis's word games and delicate mockery of social values and traditions, his constant questioning of meaning. I had only read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland before, and I noticed that in this book, Alice is noticeably less bratty and actually very nice and polite. Overall, I really enjoyed it and found it really funny and lovely. It's a bit sad that one has to be an adult to properly appreciate most children's books, especially in the case of ones as old as the Alice books.
